Gallatin Steel, a flat-rolled steel minimill in Ghent, Kentucky, has an immediate opening for an Emergency Medical Technician in the Safety and Security Department.

Qualifications for this position include both technical and personal skills including:

Successful candidates must be highly organized, be able to make critical decisions, be computer literate, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have an interest in learning new skills. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

The successful candidate must also be environmentally conscious and promote environmental awareness.

Gallatin Steel has an internship position available for a local full-time college student (minimum 12 credit hours) that is pursuing a mechanical, industrial, electrical, electronic, automations engineering or related discipline and is willing to work while attending college. Student must have an interest in problem solving and maintenance as it relates to the real world.  Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a team environment as an enthusiastic team member.

Student will gain a knowledge base in the following areas:  Basic Mechanics, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Programmable Logic Controls, and Pumps or Electrical Schematic Reading, PLC Logic and Programming, Motor Control Circuits, Automation Control Circuits, and AC/DC circuits.

The successful candidate must be environmentally conscious and promote environmental awareness.

These co-ops will complete project work as assigned, as well as operate and maintain our state-of-the-art compact strip production (CSP) facility, featuring DC electric arc furnace steelmaking technology, continuous thin-slab casting and a six stand hot strip mill. Co-ops are students enrolled in a four year university that work alternating semesters and earn college credit for their co-op terms.
