History

Construction of our Compact Strip Production facility, one of the most technologically-advanced of its kind, began in 1993. We began our start-up operations in the second quarter of 1995, as Gallatin Steel Company. We were purchased by Nucor Steel in 2014 and became Nucor Steel Gallatin.

We currently produce more than 1.6 million tons of hot band coils on an annual basis. Nucor Steel Gallatin’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility features a twin-shell DC electric arc furnace, a ladle metallurgy facility, a thin-slab continuous caster and a six-stand hot finishing mill.

Producing coils up to 1050 PIW from 42.5 to 64 inches wide at various gauge and grades, we tailor make our products to satisfy our customers' needs.

Our steel manufacturing facility is located along the banks of the Ohio River on U.S. 42 in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA. Less than an hour from both Louisville and Cincinnati, we are close to interstate highways, waterways and rail lines.
